CLASH OF THE TITANS

Last week Steelcase took on the might of BT and Telereal at the annual golf day at the Forest of Arden Golf course.

Rob Jenkins, Key Accounts Sales Manager for Steelcase Solutions, reports on the tightly fought match, clinched by the Steelcase/Interfaceflor team at the final holes.

‘The gauntlet was thrown down, a challenge set, teams were drawn, bribes were offered and eventually on September 4th battle commenced. With the score locked at 2 – 2 something had to give…the honour of winning the 5th running of the Steelcase Cup was once again up for grabs.

The two teams led by myself and Adrian Rathbone, Senior Strategy Manager at Telereal, competed head to head in a Ryder Cup format around the tough Arden Course at the Forest of Arden Golf Club. Water seemed to be everywhere (well at least it was for me!). After the first four groups had gone out an apparent winning lead had been established by the BT / Telereal team but they had not reckoned with the resilience of the Steelcase / Interfaceflor team (OK we had a little bit of help from some ringers as well!) and a fine turn around was achieved – as the last groups came in the scores were locked at 7 ½ points each and after the calculators were brought out the honours went to the victorious, glorious, magnificent (have I over done it!) Steelcase led Team.

A fine dinner, a few drinks, some speeches, some gloating (not by me! Adrian had accounted for my scalp with the last putt of the round) and prizes took place followed by more drinks.
