Steelcase celebrates Worklife Amsterdam to London charity bike ride Steelcase UK, is proud to announce that its staff charity cycle ride from Amsterdam to London has raised nearly £15,000 for Sustrans, the UK’s leading sustainable transport charity. A team of over 60 Steelcase international staff took part in the marathon bike ride starting at the WorkLife centre in Amsterdam, stopping along the way at the WorkLife centre in Brussels before finishing at its new WorkLife centre in London. The riders travelled over the course of four days from 20 September through to 23 September with each stage covering over 50 miles. The marathon bike ride is part of Steelcase’s overall environmental commitment to encouraging its employees to take the most environmentally friendly option when travelling to work or meetings. Mark Spragg, Managing Director of Steelcase UK said: “We are thoroughly committed to helping the environment and reducing our carbon footprint in the community through the promotion of bicycle use. “In our new WorkLife office we will have a number of foldable bikes available and will be encouraging all our staff to use them as they travel around London to meetings.” The Steelcase WorkLife bike ride also celebrates the launch of Steelcase’s new WorkLife centre in London opening in November. The new “WorkLife” centre will be a state of the art sales office, show room and resource centre dedicated to the future of office environments. Jenny Sheriff, Sustrans Fundraising Director said: “The support we receive from Steelcase is essential to help us continue encouraging and enabling people to travel to the shops, school or work in a healthy and environmentally friendly way.” Steelcase selected sustainable transport charity Sustrans in order to support their work in developing a network of bike paths throughout London and the UK. The Steelcase WorkLife Bike Ride ended the same day as the Hovis London Freewheel event, that aimed to encourage more people in London to cycle.
