Steelcase wins Nationwide's Supplier Pride Award for Innovation

Business InteriorsNationwide has awarded Steelcase their Supplier Pride Award for Innovation 2005/2006.

The award recognises Steelcase’s inspiring approach to office design and the creative workspace solutions it has provided to over 800 employees throughout Nationwide House in Swindon over the past two years.

Tim Plummer from Nationwide said: “Steelcase helped our teams to break free from the idea that they must be tied to single workstations. By encouraging individuals to choose more flexible environments they have helped us reduce decision making cycles, increase communication and collaboration and facilitate better transfer of information and knowledge. ”

Using a patented approach to space planning Steelcase worked with the teams to understand the underlying business needs of the organisation and to encourage new and smarter ways of working.

Andrew Morton, Project Manager, Steelcase UK, said: “Nationwide is renowned as an excellent company and employer. We are pleased that Steelcase has been able to make a contribution to this reputation by providing comfortable and relaxing working environments which foster creativity and efficiency. We are delighted to receive this award.”

Frances Graham, Workplace Consultant, Steelcase, added: “The Steelcase design process encourages Leaders and team members to share their values and visions for the future, through a variety of dynamic workshops and activities. They are encouraged to think about their work environment in a more innovative way. The outcome of the process is to link space with the strategic objectives and to help use space to improve operational effectiveness.”

As a result of the positive feedback received from employees working in Nationwide’s Property Services Department, Steelcase has since helped implement ‘Smart Working’ environments throughout Nationwide House - in the Marketing and Technology Departments, Financial Management and Internal and External Communications Teams.
