Steelcase launches the 32 Second chair Steelcase launch the 32 Seconds Chair this month (March) a high performance chair designed to support different work styles and tasks, it uses the most sophisticated ergonomic technology, supported by a breakthrough discovery in the motion of the back. Research carried out by the Vermont University with Steelcase sponsorship, the Motion Study discovered that the back does not move as a single unit but that the two areas, lumbar and thoracic, move in opposite directions. This research allowed Steelcase to create a chair that combines the Bow and Uni-Flex features which provide a flexible backrest, and differentiate between lumbar and thoracic support. 32 Seconds has been designed with total consideration of its environmental impact. As a result, 32 Seconds is 99% recyclable and complies with “NF Environment Certification”. In line with Steelcase’s holistic approach towards sustainability across its entire portfolio, 32 Seconds uses the very latest sustainable manufacturing processes and materials. It features the new Eco-Smart+ packaging, which delivers significant environmental improvements, such as less packaging waste, and better transportation efficiency with lower energy consumption and C02 emissions. Reducing fuel use by 100,000 litres and CO2 emissions by 345 tonnes. Its economy of design also means it can be assembled directly out of the box in just 32 seconds! Steelcase’s global vision over 32 Seconds life cycle helps avoid the transfers
of pollution from one stage to another or from one country to another. Furthermore,
Steelcase’s partnership with the charity Green-Works means that any office
furniture made redundant can be reused by people that really need it, such as
charities or inner city schools. |
