Introduction

Media House worked together with the New Zealand High Commission and the New Zealand and British governments throughout 2006 to generate and manage all UK press coverage surrounding the official dedication ceremony of the New Zealand Memorial in Hyde Park Corner, London.

Objectives

To establish the Memorial as a celebration of the longstanding close relationship held between Britain and New Zealand. To promote the public tickets available for ceremony, ensuring public attendance. To foster an international understanding of the importance of the Memorial.

Results

The official dedication ceremony of the New Zealand Memorial was attended by Her Majesty the Queen, TRH the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, HRH Prince William, HRH the Duke of York, the Princess Royal, the Duke of Kent, the Rt Hon Helen Clark, the Rt Hon Tony Blair and a congregation of over 2,000 distinguished United Kingdom and New Zealand dignitaries, veterans, and members of the public.

New Zealand Prime Minister, Helen Clark, noted the 'unprecedented' level of positive UK media coverage spanning the whole weekend of the event including BBC Radio, BBC Television, Sky News, BBC News 24, BBC World, the Times, News of the World and Sunday Telegraph.

Testimony

"The dedication of the New Zealand Memorial in London on 11 November, 2006 was an extremely important event, which required meticulous planning and co-ordination with media and operations executives from Buckingham Palace, 10 Downing Street, the Met Police and multiple UK and New Zealand Government Departments.  We were extremely impressed by Media House's professionalism and commitment.
