Lexmark International
Corporate Public Affairs / Current
Introduction
Media House was signed in 2003 to help Lexmark International, one of the world’s leading developers of printing and imaging solutions, to understand, influence and comply with relevant environmental legislation emanating from the European Parliament. We now provide ongoing parliamentary support for the company in Brussels and Westminster.
Objectives
To monitor developments and opinions on relevant policy and legislation: including WEEE, REACH, Packaging Waste and EuP Directives. To identify and educate target parliamentarians and stakeholders on Lexmark’s views regarding legislation. To support internal CSR and PR initiatives.
Results
Media House helped Lexmark ensure that key parliamentary influencers were aware that proposals to include ink cartridges within the WEEE or Packaging Waste Directives would hinder the success of established ink cartridge remanufacturing and recycling initiatives - including Lexmark’s trailblazing cartridge return programme. Enough support was garnered to ensure that ink cartridges did not fall within the scope of these legislative instruments.
Media House has helped Lexmark to devise an internal training programme for employees on environmental responsibility.
Testimony
“Media House showed us that when it comes to government affairs is not just about who you know. You have to understand the technicalities of the legislative process and state your case properly.”
Beatrice Marneffe, EMEA Government Affairs Director, Lexmark International
